CAIRO - 7 June 2018: Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil said that a proposal on setting up a gelatin factory in El Roubiki Leather City falls within the framework of promoting the leather industry in Egypt.
During a meeting with Germany's Gelita AG Company, the minister discussed the possibility of establishing a gelatin factory in El Roubiki Leather City.
In a statement on Thursday, the minister said that in case of implementing this project, it will be the first of its kind in Egypt and the first by the German company in the Middle East region.
Gelita AG is a world leader in the production of gelatin products. In 2004 Gelita, known until 2005 as DGF Stoess & Co. GmbH, produced some 78,000 tons of gelatin, for a broad variety of products, including foodstuffs, photography, pharmaceutical uses, and human nutrition.
Gelita has factories on five continents, in the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, The Netherlands, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and China, as well as in its native Germany.
