CAIRO – 28 May 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday's session in green, and market capitalization gained LE 1.1 billion ($62.31 million).
The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.86 percent, or 142.62 points, to close at 16,791.09 points.
The equally weighted index EGX50 climbed 0.46 percent, or 13.30 points, to reach 2,902.49 points.
The small and mid-cap index EGX70 increased 0.04 percent, or 0.35 points, closing at 853.48 points, and the broader index EGX100 went up 0.02 percent, or 0.42 points, to close at 2,178.22 points.
Market capitalization gained LE 1.1 billion, recording LE 949.53 billion, compared to LE 948.42 billion in Sunday’s session.
The trading volume reached 139.87 million shares, traded through 19,227 transactions, with a turnover of LE 820.89 million.
Foreign investors were net buyers at LE 54.58 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers at LE 56.22 million and LE 8.36 million, respectively.
Egyptian and Arab individuals bought at LE 21.83 million and LE 15.55 million, respectively, while foreign individuals sold at LE 523,598.
Egyptian and Arab organizations were net sellers at LE 44.87 million and LE 11.23 million, respectively, while foreign organizations were net buyers at LE 19.24 million.
General Company for Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction, Electro Cable Egypt, and Memphis Pharmaceuticals were top gainers of the session by 9.50 percent, 5.88 percent and 5.45 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, Egypt Aluminum, El Arabia Engineering Industries, and Sharkia National Food were top losers of the session by 10.71 percent, 7.50 percent and 6.63 percent, respectively.
The EGX ended Sunday’s session on a mixed performance, as the EGX30 edged up 0.09 percent, EGX50 slipped 0.25 percent, EGX70 decreased 0.61 percent and EGX100 went down 0.07 percent.
Trading on the EGX during the holy month of Ramadan is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CLT).
