CAIRO – 9 May 2018: The government agreed on Wednesday to task the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) and the National Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) with executing three electricity generation stations with a capacity of 4MW in Eritrea.
This comes as part of the Egyptian initiative for the development of Nile Basin countries, with a total cost of around $7 million.
Egypt and Eritrea are executing a joint Egyptian-Eritrean farm in Eritrea.
The farm, located in the Horn of Africa, aims to strengthen Egyptian-Eritrean ties particularly in the agriculture field and meet the needs of the Eritrean side in terms of producing various crops through transfer of Egypt's agricultural technology, Minister of Agriculture Abdel Moneim el-Banna said in Febuary.
Delegations from Egypt and Eritrea have met several times over the last few years to intensify the coordination in various sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure, trade, culture, education and health.
President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi has repeatedly referred to the importance of enhancing cooperation with Africa.
