Sisi approves Industrial Permits Act

CAIRO – 9 May 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi approved on Monday the Industrial Permits Act that aims at easing measures for obtaining licenses for the industrial establishments.

“Without prejudice to Law no 83, 2002 which regulates the special economic zone and Law no 14, 2012 regarding the comprehensive development in the Sinai Peninsula, the provisions of the law are applicable to all industrial establishments and places inside and outside the industrial zones including the free zones and investment zones,” the law read.

Egypt has 126 industrial zones nationwide, and has a plan to increase this number in the near future by adding more industrial areas that are either directed by IDA or new economic zones like the Suez Canal Economic Zone or the Golden-Triangle Economic
