EGX capitalization gains LE 14.5B in 2nd week of March

CAIRO – 18 March 2018: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) capitalization gained LE 14.5 billion in the second week of March, recording LE 972.49 billion in last Thursday’s session compared to LE 957.95 billion in the previous Thursday.

The most active Sectors

The financial services sector came first among the listed sectors in the week starting from March 11 to 15 in terms of trading volume, recording 677.1 million shares with a total value of LE 2.55 billion.

The telecommunication sector came second in the list of the most active sectors during the week after trading 416.6 million shares of the sector’s stocks to record LE 730.2 million.

According to the list, the real estate sector ranked third, with 287.5 million shares and a value of LE 1.59 million; travel and leisure sector followed real estate with 163.9 million shares and a value of LE 328.2 million.

In the fifth place, personal and household products recorded 69.8 million shares that are worth LE 1.73 million.

Listed Companies

The list of the most active stocks in EGX during the week showed that Citadel Capital SAE (CCAP) was at the top of the list with 394.8 million shares that are worth LE 653.4 million.

Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (OTMT) came second, recording 353.8 million shares with a total value of LE 243.9 million.

Amer Group Holding Co SAE (AMER) ranked third, with 167.3 million shares amounting to LE 244.8 million.

Porto Group Holding (PORT) and Global Telecom Holding SAE (GTHE) came fourth and fifth in the weekly list with 70.8 million shares and 52.9 million shares at a value of LE 305 million and LE 354.4 million, respectively.

EGX went against expectations on Thursday to continue in red for the last session of the week within profit picking processes.

The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.70 percent, EGX50 increased 0.14 percent, EGX70 went up 0.03 percent, and EGX100 edged up 0.18 percent.
