Egypt’s exports to African countries don’t exceed $4B/year

CAIRO – 12 March 2018: Chairman of the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) Khaled el-Mekaty said Monday that Egypt’s exports to African countries do not exceed $4 billion annually.

This came at the meeting with Egypt Expo & Convention Authority (EECA).

Mekaty added that Egypt's exports represent 0.5 percent of all African countries’ imports.

He noted that 22 countries will participate in the Cairo International Fair, describing this participation as a good opportunity to discover new investments.

The Cairo International Fair (CIF) is a multi-trade sector event which will take place from March 14 to 23, 2018. It will enable overseas participants to introduce new and improved technologies into the Egyptian and Middle Eastern markets.

Mekaty further remarked that 14 trade missions to African and Arab countries are scheduled to be organized in six different economic sectors to expand Egyptian existence in other economic markets.

Currently, there are Egyptian companies that invest in Zambia, Angola and other African countries, he added.

The association is also seeking to organize the Arab-African conference in June to develop joint cooperation, Mekaty said.
