CAIRO – 30 April 2017: Admiral Mohab Mamish, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, was appointed chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SC ZONE) as per a presidential decree published Saturday in Egypt’s official gazette.
The decree states that Mamish will have all powers guaranteed by the law.
Mamish replaces Ahmed Darwish, who served as head of the SC Zone since November 2015.
“I want to express my thanks to the president for offering me such an opportunity to plant the first seeds of the fruit that our sons and grandchildren will reap in the future,” Darwish said in a Facebook post.
In November 2015, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi appointed Darwish president of the SC Zone for a three-year term.
Last week, Darwish issued a report on the latest activities that his team had achieved during 2016. The report stated that total investments in the zone amounted to $20 billion (EGP360 billion).
