CAIRO – 10 March 2018: Egyptian companies will be afforded the opportunity to showcase their products during the next China International Import Expo, which will take place from November 5-10.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, represented by Sherine el-Shorbagy, head of the Exports Development Authority, signed an agreement with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s counselor, Shu Luomei, regarding the participation of Egypt in the upcoming trade fair.
A 1,000-meter-wide pavilion will expectedly be allocated solely to the Egyptian companies, Shorbagy said, according to the ministry’s press release on Friday, confirming that the ministry will support the participating companies by covering 50-70 percent of the participation fees.
She added that the Egyptian delegation will review the economic and developmental achievements made by the Egyptian government in diverse fields. “Egypt will also participate in the ‘trade in goods and trade in services’ session that will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition,” she stated.
Shorbagy pointed out that the Egyptian government is in full support of the participating companies and is keen to have their products presented in the best and most up-to-date way possible, adding that the exhibition exemplifies the strength of the mutual relations between the two countries.
For her part, Shu Luomei said that this represents the Chinese government’s interest to promote the free trade system and economic globalization, and it will boost the Chinese consumer market that now has around 1.3 billion consumers worldwide.
Being a strategic partner of China in the Middle East, Luomei insisted on the importance of the Egyptian participation in the exhibition, which also provides a great opportunity for Egypt to benefit from and get familiarized with the global consumer market, which exhibits a wide range of diverse products relating to the sectors of food processing, agriculture, textiles and pharmaceutical products.
