Cairo- 22 April 2017: This year’s edition of Food Africa Cairo exhibition saw an increase in the number of companies participating by 85 percent, compared to last year, Minister of Trade and Industry, Tarek Kabil, said during the inauguration of the event on Saturday.

About 450 international and Egyptian food manufacturers are taking part in the three-day exhibition, taking place from 22-24 April at the Cairo International Convention & Exhibition centre (CICC). The exhibition serves as a platform for the companies to exchange experiences and ink trade deals throughout Africa.

This year, the exhibition is titled “Smart Manufacturing,” where 250 companies will share their experience in the field of food industries in Egypt and North Africa, in order to improve the quality of the industry in the continent.

“Egypt is keen to pay more attention to the African market, since it’s a huge consumer market that is able to absorb imports from other markets,” Kabil said.

Kabil said that Egypt has established a logistics center in Kenya in order to facilitate the transportation of goods into Africa, adding that Egyptian companies of dried foods, especially in Qena, Luxor and Aswan, will take advantage of the exhibition to export their goods across the continent.
