Unemployment, extremism main challenges in Middle East: WEF panelists



The World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos hosted a special panel session Wednesday on ‘finding a new equilibrium in the Middle East’, where panelists identified unemployment and extremism as the main challenges facing the Middle East region.

CI Capital to hold its 2nd MENA Investor Conference this month



Local financial services group, CI Capital, will hold its second MENA Investor Conference in Cairo on January 30, a statement from CI Capital said Wednesday.

The three-day conference will host several ministers and senior government officials to discuss key economic issues, including financial inclusion and fiscal reforms.

Egypt’s exports to US surge 17% in first 11 months of 2017



Non-petroleum exports to the U.S. significantly increased by 17.5 percent in the first 11 months of 2017 to reach $1.34 billion, compared to $1.14 in the same period of 2016, Trade Minister Tarek Kabil said Wednesday.

The U.S. dollar hit fresh lows on Wednesday after U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he welcomed its weakness and figures showed that the euro zone economy started the year at its strongest pace in over a decade.
