CAIRO - 25 December 2017: Minister of Industry Tarek Kabil issued a decision Monday to impose LE 900 in fees per ton for exporting animal feeds, up from LE 600, for one year.

In a statement published in the Official Gazette, the decision excludes animal feeds supplied to production projects in the free zones.

"The decision comes in light of the ministry's keenness to secure the domestic needs of animal feeds, as the increasing export level of this product has caused price hikes in the local market," Kabil said in the statement.

Egyptian non-petroleum exports during the period of January-November 2017 increased 10 percent, registering $20 billion against $18 billion in the same period of 2016, according to the General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC).

Egyptian exports of food products increased 4.6 percent, to reach $2.574 billion compared to $2.462 billion. Exports of textiles increased 4.6 percent, reaching $749 million compared to $716 million.
