CAIRO – 23 December 2017: Constructionmaterials exports rose by 4.5 percent from January to November 2017 reaching $4.623 billion compared to$4.424 billion during the corresponding period of 2016. The Export Council for ConstructionMaterials said Saturday in a statement.
The council is set to convene next January to discuss theirplan for 2018 which focuses on increasing exports particularly to African markets, the statement added.
The upcoming meeting will discuss the strategy of the constructionmaterials’sector up to2020, which aims to expand exports to Latin American, European and African markets, in addition to drafting their plan of holding exhibitions abroad in coordination with the Export Development Authority.
The council will also be discussing sending an Egyptian trade mission to Nigeria in April 2018 with the aimto expand the exports of the building materials sector to African markets.
The Export Council for ConstructionMaterials has a promising plan to raise the exports of the sector to $5 billion by the end of 2017.
In late November, Industry and Trade Minister Tarek Kabil said in a statement that the ministry aims to double exports during the coming period, highlighting the role of export councils in tackling the challenges facing Egyptian exports abroad.
He added that Export Councils will prepare plans to help increase Egypt’s exports globally.
