CAIRO – 14 December 2017: Feasibility studies of the potential logistics center in Alexandria are scheduled to be completed within four or five months, Ahmed Al-Wakil, chairman of the Federation of African and Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, told state owned agency MENA on Wednesday.
Al-Wakil, also head of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, added that the study will include the investment cost, sources of finance and the master plan. The center is set to be on an area of 80 feddans (83.04 acres).
In September 2017, the former Minister of Supply Khaled Hanafi announced there was coordination between Alexandria Governorate and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers to set up a logistics center in the governorate.
“The aim of the project is the return of Alexandria as a business center in the Middle East area,” Al-Wakil noted, adding that the center will offer logistics and will have commodity bourse, conferences zone and an area for fairs.
Supply Minister Ali Al-Moselhy announced late October that his ministry has a plan to establish 12 logistics zones on an area of 20 feddans for each zone.
