SHARM EL SHEIKH - 9 December 2017: The federations of Egyptian and African chambers of commerce met Saturday to discuss means of boosting trade exchange.
The meeting, held as part of the Africa 2017 forum, also focused on a project to establish a road connecting Egypt and Chad.
The road between Egypt and Chad should cross four African countries, said Alaa Ezz, the secretary general of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, in statements to MENA.
The road is currently unpaved and prevents the exchange of commodities, and should help reduce the price of goods among the African countries through which it will pass, Ezz said, noting that Chad has welcomed the project.
The EU will provide a grant to bankroll feasibility studies of the project, Ezz said, expecting the study to be over by mid 2018.
