CAIRO – 3 December 2017: Electronic visas launched Sunday will help attract more tourists to Egypt, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said during his speech at the events of Cairo ICT 2017 conference.

Sisi launched the works of the first phase of Egypt’s e-visa online portal to become effective in passport, immigration and nationality offices. Using this system, tourists will apply and pay for their visa online via a barcode that they will receive. After approval from Egyptian authorities, tourists will receive a copy of the visa electronically.

At the events of the conference, Sisi witnessed the opening of Beni Suef’s technology park via video conference, after he listened to a detailed explanation about the park.

Sisi also inaugurated an electronic devices factory in Assiut to export its products.

The president also followed-up on construction works of technology parks in Sadat city in Menofia governorate.

Sisi also announced that the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) in 2019 will take place in Egypt, “which proves the country’s commitment to developing the information technology sector,” he said.

The communication and information technology sector is a basic foundation in Egypt’s plan for inclusive digital transformation, the president added.

Earlier Sunday, Sisi inaugurated the events of the 21st edition of Cairo ICT 2017 Conference, which will run from December 3 to 6.
