CAIRO – 12 November 2017: Egypt’s Cabinet on Saturday issued its regular report on the distribution of the gross domestic product (GDP) across economic sectors in Egypt from March 2016 to September 2017.
The government's report presented to the Parliament revealed that the agriculture sector contributed about 11.7 percent to the country’s GDP, recording LE 219.7 billion.
The report showed that investments in the agricultural sector amounted to LE 21.86 billion during the same period.
The most important achievement in the agriculture sector was the establishment of the isolated areas of the highly pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1) Virus, the National Crop Bank and the epidemiological map of poultry diseases.
Egypt's GDP stood at $336.30 billion in 2016. It averaged $73.84 billion from 1960 until 2016.
