Industry Minister heads to Athens for EU-Arab Summit

CAIRO – 8 November 2017: Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Tarek Kabil headed to Athens Wednesday to attend the events of the EU-Arab World Summit that will start November 9.

To be held under the title of “Towards a Solid Alliance”, the summit is organized under the auspices of President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos.

Kabil will deliver a speech on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, in addition to holding meetings with high-ranking officials in the Greek government, such as deputy Prime MinisterYannis Dragasakis, Minister of Economy Giorgos Stathaki, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Loannis Amanatidis and the secretary-general of the Minister of Communication Vassilis Maglaras to promote more cooperation.

The Egyptian minister will meet a number of Greek companies to discuss increasing their presence in Egypt.

Keynote speakers include Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat and President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiades.

Sessions of the summit will tackle challenges facing EU-Arab relations, political security in both regions, and cooperation in the energy sector and development in mutual investment.
