CAIRO – 7 November 2017: A delegation from the International Labor Organization (ILO) will visit Egypt next week to check on the progress of the mutual agreement and the positive developments improving the business climate, ILO director in Egypt Peter Van Rooij said Tuesday.
In a meeting with Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr, Rooji discussed accelerating the implementation of the cooperation protocol signed in September for youth employment, which targets creating a million job opportunities over three years.
The program also aims to raise technical skills in job-generating sectors, promote small and medium enterprises and provide job opportunities in the neediest governorates.
In July, the ILO approved a program to develop the work environment in 30 clothing companies to contribute to improving the business climate. With this approval, Egypt joined seven participants benefiting from the program including Indonesia, Jordan and Bangladesh.
The program deals with a total number of two million workers in 1,500 factories, and it connects companies with 35 companies in the U.S., Europe and Japan.
