54 ships transit Suez Canal with cargo of 3.1 mln tons

ISMAILIA, Egypt - 26 October 2017: As many as 54 ships transited the Suez Canal on Thursday, with a total cargo of 3.1 million tons.

The north-bound convoy comprised 28 ships with 1.5 million tons topped by a Marshall Islands-flagged container ship carrying 159,000 tons, according to statistics by the Suez Canal Authority.

The south-bound convoy included 26 ships laden with 1.6 million tons topped by "MILAN MAERSK" container ship carrying 219,000 tons.
