World's largest container ship transits Suez Canal

ISMAILIA, Egypt - 27 Sep 2017:The world's largest container ship, OOCL Germany, crossed the Suez Canal on Wednesday coming from Singapore en route to Britain.

A navigation source at the Suez Canal said the Hong Kong-owned container ship had a load of 218,000 tons and came from Singapore en route to Britain via the Mediterranean.

The ship was carrying more than 21,000 containers, said the source, adding it was escorted by a tug boat belonging to the Suez Canal Authority.
