Egyptian exports to Belgium increase 25% in Q1 of 2017

CAIRO – 15 September 2017: Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil announced that Egyptian exports to Belgium have increased by 25 percent during the first half of 2017 compared to 2016.

According to report received by the Minister from the Egyptian Trade Office in Brussels, the value of Egyptian exports reached €144 million in 2017, compared to 2016 when they recorded €115 million.

Kabil also stated that the trade exchange between the two countries have also risen from €740 million in 2016 to €802 million in 2017, which marks an increase of 8.4 percent.

Ahmed Antar, head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECA) stated that the positive development in exports are due to the increase in Egyptian exports of iron and steel, equipment, machinery, wires, fruits, ready-made garments and ceramics.

He said that some Egyptian products entered the Belgian market for the first time in the first half of this year, mainly flat rolled products of iron or steel, black honey, orange juice, lead products and polystyrene in its primary forms and glass fiber.
