CAIRO – 16 August 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indexes ended Wednesday’s session on a positive note, boosted by local and Arab purchases.
The benchmark index EGX30 added 0.36 percent to close at 13,149 points.
The small and mid-cap index EGX70 rose 1.20 percent to end at 697.9 points. The broader index EGX100 index also increased 1.18 percent to close near 1,571 points.
Market capitalization gained LE 2.1 billion ($1.2 billion) totaling LE 699 billion, down from LE 696.9 billion registered Tuesday.
Turnover dropped LE 147 million to LE 665.6 million, compared to LE 812.7 million last session, while traded volume registered 151.7 million shares, down from 287.2 million shares yesterday.
Local and Arab investors were net buyers with a total of LE 13.9 million and LE 6.85 million, respectively, while Arab traders sold by LE 20.8 million.
Financial Services excluding Banks kept its position on the top in terms of traded values and volumes by LE 102.33 million and 43.4 million shares, respectively.
Abou Kir Fertilizers topped gainers and rushed 11.87 percent, while Osool ESB Securities Brokerage led the worst performers, slumping 9.83 percent.
