CAIRO – 1 August 2017: The Ministry of Industry requested the supervision of industrial buildings to be under the Industrial Development Authority (IDA).

In a note published on Monday by the ministry compiling comments about the New Investment Law’s draft executive regulation, the Ministry asked that the IDA be responsible for determining conditions of getting industrial licenses.

The conditions include environmental, industrial security, safety, professional health and civil defense rules, in addition to the standards of the industrial activities’ buildings.

The IDA shall also be the sole entity with the right to publish inspection and accrediting certificates, the Ministry said.

The final draft of the law’s executive regulations will be discussed in the meeting of economic ministers in the cabinet, Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr said in a Monday statement.

All relevant ministers have submitted their comments on the regulations, Nasr noted, adding that the draft was written under agreements from all relevant parties.
