Romania’s Transgaz mulls investment in Egypt

CAIRO – 29 July 2017: Romania’s natural gas firm Transgaz is interested in investing in Egypt by establishing a factory, Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr said Saturday.

During a meeting with Romania’s Deputy Prime Minister Sevil Shhaideh in Bucharest, Nasr said the natural gas company has organized a visit to Egypt in the coming period for a series of meetings with ministers, she said in a statement.

While Shhaideh praised economic reform measures in Cairo, Nasr presented available investment opportunities in the country in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, New Administrative Capital and New Alamein City.

Both parties agreed on developing means to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

As part of the visit, Nasr signed four memoranda of understanding (MoU) and protocols with Romania for joint economic cooperation Friday.

The MoUs are in the fields of agriculture, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), irrigation and water resources, and business entrepreneurship.

Additionally, there is a cooperation MoU between the Romanian Port of Constanta and the Alexandria Port Authority, according to the ministry.
