CAIRO - 25 January 2025: Egypt's Ready-Made Garments Export Council revealed that the sector's exports increased by 18 percent, recording $2.84 billion in 2024, compared to $2.41 billion in 2023, with the sector's exports recording a distinguished performance during the past year.
Garment Exports 2024
The report of the Garment Export Council, headed by Eng. Fadel Marzouk, indicated that the sector's exports to the United States of America increased by 17 percent to record $1.19 billion in 2024 compared to $1.01 billion in 2023.
The Council's report also revealed that clothing exports to Europe jumped by 34 percent to record $689 million compared to $514 million in 2023, within the framework of the remarkable growth in the sector's exports to the European Union countries as one of the most important markets receiving clothing.
Exports to African countries excluding Arab countries increased by 140 percent to record $8.7 million in 2024 compared to $3.6 million in 2023, while exports to Arab countries increased by 4 percent.
Turkey came in second after the United States in terms of clothing imports from Egypt, with exports to Turkey increasing by 9 percent to record $242 million compared to $222 million.
Garment Export Targets 2025
Regarding the 2025 targets, Fadel Marzouk, Chairman of the Garment Export Council, revealed that the council is targeting an annual growth rate of no less than 20 percent to levels of $3.3 billion by the end of 2025, while stressing the completion of the council's program to target international markets, in light of strong support provided to competitors in neighboring markets.
Marzouk added that there is a plan for the Garment Export Council to organize a number of events and international trade missions in order to achieve the council's vision to increase exports during 2025.
