Cairo – January 22, 2025: The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) is making significant efforts to enhance its digital services and streamline the tax return process, particularly during the tax filing season, reflecting its continued commitment. Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the ETA, emphasized how the introduction of advanced digital tools is central to these improvements, aiming to make the process more efficient for taxpayers.
She also highlighted the fully-equipped Digital Services Center at the Treasury headquarters in Lazoghly. The center, staffed with a skilled team and supported by the latest technology, is designed to assist taxpayers with electronic filing and provide immediate support as needed.
The Tax Authority is also focused on expanding its digital services across the country, with plans to establish additional digital centers in various governorates. This nationwide expansion ensures that taxpayers have access to the assistance they need, no matter where they are located.
The Lazoghly Digital Services Center provides a variety of services, including guidance on tax return filing, the electronic invoice system, the electronic receipt system, and electronic signatures. With 30 dedicated service windows staffed by experts, the center ensures efficient and effective support. Abdel Aal emphasized the Authority's ongoing efforts to enhance the taxpayer experience and foster trust through improved digital services.
In addition, Abdel Aal revealed that the Tax Authority has formed partnerships with professional syndicates, such as the Syndicate of Theatrical Professions, the Syndicate of Cinematic Professions, and the Syndicate of Musical Professions, to provide specialized support to their members during tax season. These collaborations aim to simplify the tax compliance process for artists and creators.
As part of this initiative, the Tax Authority has designated representatives to assist syndicate members directly at their headquarters. These representatives are available one day each week to help members complete their tax returns, answer tax-related and legal questions, and assist with registration in all electronic tax systems.
Abdel Aal emphasized that these efforts are designed to resolve any challenges taxpayers may encounter during the filing process, ensuring smooth and accurate compliance. She reiterated the Authority’s commitment to providing continuous technical support and awareness programs, strengthening the relationship between the Tax Authority and the tax-paying community.
