Prime Minister Explores Green Energy Collaboration with Acciona Energía at Davos 2025

CAIRO - 21 January 2025: On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Davos 2025, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, met with José Entricanales, CFO of Spain’s Acciona Energía, to discuss potential collaboration in the green energy sector.

 

The Prime Minister emphasized Egypt's keen interest in partnering with Acciona Energía, recognizing its position as a global leader in green energy production with a capacity of 15 GW and a presence in 52 countries. He also highlighted the company’s advanced expertise in seawater desalination, underlining Egypt's need for such partnerships to meet its growing water demands.

 

Madbouly stressed the importance of overcoming cost-related challenges to expand desalination projects and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to renewable energy. He acknowledged the significance of Acciona’s projects in Egypt’s renewable energy market and reiterated Egypt's goal of increasing the share of renewables in its energy mix.

 

José Entricanales praised Egypt's economic reform efforts and the positive indicators reflecting the country’s promising economic future. He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating on priority projects, particularly in the fields of new and renewable energy.
