CAIRO – 16 January 2025: The Egyptian Cabinet has approved the issuance of the Golden License to Lesaffre Egypt for Yeast Manufacturing (LSE), a domestic joint-stock company, to establish and operate a state-of-the-art yeast production facility. The factory, to be built on a 43,800 square meter site in the Second Industrial Zone of New Nubaria City, Beheira Governorate, represents a 120 million euros self-financed investment.
This ambitious project is set to produce 22,600 tons annually of instant active dry yeast, with the first phase (11,300 tons) scheduled for completion in August 2026 and the second phase (another 11,300 tons) by August 2028.
Operating within the food industries and agricultural products sector, the facility will focus on producing yeast derivatives and extracts used in food production, animal feed, bread improvers, and flavor and color enhancers. It will also recycle production waste into animal feed, agricultural fertilizers, and other industrial applications.
The project aligns with Egypt’s strategy to enhance local industrial capabilities, with a commitment to exporting over 90 percent of production globally and increasing the local component to over 50 percent. It also introduces advanced technology, positioning Egypt as a regional hub for modern yeast manufacturing.
