According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), trade between Egypt and Greece reached $1.5 billion in the first 11 months of 2024, down from $1.8 billion during the same period in 2023. While Egyptian exports to Greece declined slightly to $1 billion from $1.3 billion in 2023, imports from Greece showed a modest increase, rising to $530 million from $523 million.

Key Egyptian exports to Greece included mineral fuels, oils, and distillation products valued at $610 million, fertilizers worth $92 million, and vegetables and fruits totaling $84 million. Additional exports included $46 million in plastics and related products and $33 million in iron and steel.

On the import side, Egypt's major purchases from Greece included mineral fuels and oils worth $274 million, cotton at $120 million, and fruits and nuts valued at $44 million. Other imports included $15 million each in tobacco and machinery or electrical appliances.

Remittances also played a role in the bilateral economic relationship. Egyptians working in Greece sent $15 million back home in the fiscal year 2023/2024, up from $14.3 million in 2022/2023. In contrast, Greeks working in Egypt transferred $3.4 million during the same period, an increase from $2.7 million the previous year.

Investment flows between the two nations showed notable growth. Greek investments in Egypt nearly doubled, reaching $13.9 million in the fiscal year 2023/2024 compared to $6.7 million in 2022/2023. Similarly, Egyptian investments in Greece increased to $1 million, up from $700,000 in the previous fiscal year.

These figures reflect the evolving economic relationship between Egypt and Greece, with opportunities for further collaboration across trade, remittances, and investment sectors.
