CAIRO – 9 January 2025: China's Asia-Potash plans to establish a complex for producing phosphatic fertilizers with the aim of exporting 100 percent of the output through Port of Safaga.

The company will also extract phosphate from the area stretching between Luxor's Esna and Aswan's Sebaeya. In the first phase, which will be constructed in 18 months, $1.6 billion will be injected in order to extract and process two million tons of phosphate every year, creating 3,000 job opportunities. In the following phase, the size of investment is expected to amount to 7-10 percent billion, while production is set to reach 10 million tons per annum.

To discuss details, the company's deputy chairman met Wednesday CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hossam Heiba, stating that Asia-Potash eyed partnerships in green ammonia sector in the coming years in order to secure the plant's needs.
