Cairo – December 23, 2024: To further enhance consumer rights and improve service accessibility, the Consumer Protection Agency has launched the "Consumer Protection App" as a key part of the "Regulated E-Commerce Initiative."

The app was introduced by Ibrahim El-Segini, Head of the Consumer Protection Agency, at a press conference on Sunday. This initiative is designed to simplify the process for citizens to file complaints, make reports, and access a variety of services offered by the Agency.

The app’s release coincides with the start of the "Regulated E-Commerce Initiative," designed to streamline and regulate e-commerce activities in Egypt. The Agency believes that the app is a step forward in its commitment to digital transformation and supports the government's strategy for a more digitally integrated country.

The app enables users to submit complaints and reports at any time, offering the convenience of tracking cases and accessing vital information about product recalls in various sectors. In addition, users can stay updated on consumer alerts, access the Agency’s digital services, and learn more about market regulations.

The introduction of the app is seen as a move to improve communication between the Agency and the public, addressing previous limitations where complaints could only be filed through a landline hotline.

The launch of the app marks a key development in the Agency's efforts to modernize and enhance consumer services. It reflects a broader governmental push toward digital transformation and aims to strengthen consumer protection while supporting sustainable growth within Egypt’s e-commerce sector.

A central goal of the Agency is to raise consumer awareness and help individuals make informed purchasing decisions by ensuring access to accurate product information. The app also plays a role in educating consumers about their rights and responsibilities, which is expected to help reduce the number of complaints. It also provides important legal guidance to ensure that consumers are better equipped to protect their interests.

Users can submit and track complaints and reports directly through the app. Additionally, it offers access to information on product recalls, both local and international, so consumers can stay informed about unsafe products.

The app also provides a directory of authorized after-sales service centers, covering products such as cars and electronics, helping consumers find reliable services for their purchases.

The app includes essential advice and tips on purchasing and e-commerce, assisting consumers in making well-informed decisions when buying products. It also provides information about unsafe products and recalls, promoting consumer safety and well-being when using goods in the market.
