CAIRO – 19 December 2024: The Cairo Declaration, issued during the D-8 Summit, has outlined a comprehensive framework for fostering development, cooperation, and inclusivity among member states. Leaders of the D-8 countries pledged to strengthen shared developmental goals under the principles of fraternity, peace, dialogue, justice, and equality.
A central focus of the declaration is the commitment to enhancing partnerships across priority sectors, including agriculture, food security, energy, science and technology, industry, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. These efforts aim to bolster economic growth and resilience among member states.
The declaration also underscored the importance of implementing the D-8 Group’s Decennial Roadmap for 2020-2030, which seeks to deepen economic cooperation and ensure sustainable development in line with global goals.
Recognizing the increasing threat of natural disasters, the Cairo Declaration renewed the commitment to advancing disaster management collaboration. This includes improving early warning systems and facilitating the exchange of knowledge to enhance preparedness and response efforts.
Health cooperation emerged as another priority, with Egypt proposing regular meetings among health ministers and technical bodies within the D-8 framework. The initiative aims to improve healthcare systems and promote collective resilience against health crises.
Women’s economic empowerment was emphasized as a cornerstone of the group’s strategy, with leaders acknowledging its role as a key driver for economic growth and sustainable development. The declaration reaffirmed the importance of fostering equal opportunities for women in all sectors.
Lastly, the Cairo Declaration reiterated the commitment to continued collaboration under Egypt’s leadership, reaffirming alignment with the group’s Decennial Roadmap and its vision for a more prosperous and united future.
