Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, and Poland’s Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Krzysztof Pater, presided over the first session of the Egyptian-Polish Joint Economic Cooperation Committee. This historic meeting marked the revival of bilateral economic collaboration after a 30-year hiatus.
During the session, the two ministers signed a protocol establishing a framework for cooperation in 16 key developmental areas. The agreement aims to boost trade exchange, enhance economic and investment relations, and foster knowledge sharing across strategic sectors. These include information and communications technology (ICT), with a focus on knowledge transfer, capacity building, and smart city development; investment through private-sector collaboration and opportunity exploration; and the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Additional areas of cooperation outlined in the protocol include the environment, health and pharmaceuticals, electricity and renewable energy, space, higher education, agriculture, trade, transport, small and medium enterprises, water resources, tourism, internal trade, and housing.
As part of the agreement, a high-level Polish delegation will visit Egypt in the first quarter of 2025.
This delegation, comprising investors, economists, business leaders, and government representatives, will explore opportunities in Egypt, advance economic partnerships, and implement the outcomes of the committee’s initial session.
