China tops list of 5 markets for Egyptian imports in 2024

CAIRO - 11 December 2024: China topped the list of the top 5 markets for Egyptian imports from the beginning of this year until last August, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, compared to the same period last year 2023.
 
The agency's data shows that China topped the list with a value of Egyptian imports amounting to about $9 billion and 763 million during the first 8 months of this year 2024, while it was about $8 billion and 550 million in the same period last year 2023, an increase of about $1 billion and 212 million.
 
The list of the top 5 countries from which Egypt imported also included, in addition to China, the United States of America, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Germany.
 
Imports of electrical appliances and their components topped the list of goods imported by Egypt from China during the mentioned period, with a value of $2.435 billion during the first 8 months of the current year 2024, while it was about $1.577 billion in the same period last year 2023, an increase of $878 million and 669 thousand, followed by Egypt's imports of cars and tractors, which amounted to about $638 million and 496 thousand during the first 8 months of the current year 2024, compared to $272 million and 726 thousand in the corresponding period in 2023, an increase of $365 million and 770 thousand.
