President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi presided over the signing of a contract between Norway’s Empower New Energy and Majid Al Futtaim Group to establish a solar energy project in Egypt for industrial purposes.
The signing took place following a meeting between President El-Sisi and the CEOs of Empower New Energy, Golar LNG, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), and the Norwegian-African Business Association. This meeting occurred during the President’s official visit to Norway as part of his European tour.
Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shinawy highlighted that the discussions focused on strengthening investment cooperation between Egypt and Norwegian entities.
Key elements of Egypt’s economic development plan were reviewed, emphasizing the government’s commitment to empowering the private sector and attracting foreign direct investment.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s prioritization of renewable energy development, citing the country’s abundant natural resources and infrastructure.
He expressed appreciation for the partnership with Empower and other Norwegian companies, underscoring Egypt’s intention to expand collaboration and explore new opportunities for mutual growth.
The meeting also addressed the potential for trilateral cooperation in Africa to promote development across the continent. Participants discussed the role of Egyptian companies in Africa and the possibility of leveraging their expertise to provide tangible support to African nations.
