CAIRO - 5 December 2024: Egypt and Tajikistan have strengthened their economic and development ties through the signing of three key agreements during the third session of the Egypt-Tajikistan Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
The signed agreements include a memorandum of understanding aimed at boosting trade, economic partnerships, and cooperation in macroeconomic forecasting, digital economy initiatives, and regional economic integration.
A joint work plan for 2024-2025 was also signed between Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and Tajikistan’s Tajinvest, focused on improving investor services and promoting investment opportunities.
Additionally, a customs cooperation agreement was finalized to streamline trade and enhance customs procedures through information exchange and mutual assistance.
The session, chaired by Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Rania Al-Mashat, and Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavqi Zavqizoda, marks a significant step in bilateral relations, following previous sessions in 2009 and 2019.
The session also produced a protocol outlining 17 priority areas for development, including trade, investment, housing, agriculture, health, education, tourism, and renewable energy, with a focus on increasing trade and attracting investment in key sectors such as food industries, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and construction.
