CAIRO - 5 December 2024: Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) monitored the development of Egyptian corn imports from the beginning of this year 2024 until last August, compared to the same period last year 2023.
The agency's data indicated that Egypt's corn imports amounted to about $1.444 billion during the period from January to last August, while they were about $1.708 billion in the same period last year 2023, a decrease of $263 million and 288 thousand.
Egypt's corn imports were among the most important Egyptian imports of raw materials, with a total value of about $7 billion and 513 million during the first 8 months of this year 2024, compared to about $7 billion and 38 million during the same period last year 2023, an increase of about $475 million and 225 thousand.
In the same context, the total Egyptian imports of wheat amounted to about 3 billion and 119 million dollars during the first 8 months of this year, while it was about 2 billion and 467 million dollars in the same period last year 2023, an increase of 651 million and 916 thousand dollars.
