CAIRO - 4 December 2024: Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk highlighted the importance of international expertise in enhancing trust and collaboration with Egypt's tax community, aimed at boosting private sector growth.
During the 20th-anniversary event of the IMF’s Middle East and North Africa Technical Assistance Center (METAC), Kouchouk emphasized the center’s critical role in promoting economic stability and sustainable growth in the region.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to its partnership with METAC, focusing on strengthening the resilience of economies in the MENA region against shared challenges.
He stressed the need for multilateral cooperation to advance inclusive growth, enhance fiscal policies, and address pressing issues such as climate change, digital transformation, and social inclusion.
Kouchouk credited METAC with aiding Egypt’s fiscal reforms and public financial management, which have supported the country's broader economic reform agenda.
He added that these efforts aim to stimulate economic growth while improving citizens' living standards.
IMF officials acknowledged Egypt's strong engagement with METAC, praising its efforts to foster regional capacity-building.
They described METAC as a valuable platform for addressing the region's growing demand for technical assistance and development support.
