CAIRO – 1 December 2024: Chinese automotive giant Great Wall Motors is set to establish a new project focused on car and spare parts production within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

In a recent meeting, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Ming Xian Jun, Vice President of Great Wall Motors, a major manufacturer of vehicles and trucks.

During the discussion, Madbouly shared that he had previously met with Jack Wei, Chairman of Great Wall Motors, at the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in Beijing last September.

It was during this meeting that Wei expressed the company’s interest in launching a significant manufacturing project in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Madbouly reassured the company of Egypt’s commitment to providing full support for the project, including offering special investment incentives in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, alongside the incentives available under Egypt’s export support program.

He further emphasized that Egypt was ready to facilitate all necessary arrangements for the establishment of the factory, provided the agreement is signed before the end of December.

Ming Xian Jun elaborated on the company’s expertise in producing a wide range of vehicles, spare parts, and components, as well as manufacturing truck chassis.

He outlined the company’s goal to meet local demand while expanding its exports to regional and global markets. Jun also expressed a strong interest in collaborating with local Egyptian firms in the automotive sector, offering to help train and develop their workforce to improve production capacity and export capabilities.

In addition, he revealed plans for the production of multiple car models in Egypt. Jun shared details of the investment plan, including land requirements, investment amounts, production stages, expected output, and the quantities earmarked for both local consumption and export.
