Wabenhorst asserted that the meeting asserted the strength of relations between Egypt and Australia, adding that Australian opened the first embassy in the Middle East in Cairo in 1950, a statement of the union said on Saturday.
He shed light on fields of mutual cooperation with Egypt and the union in the fields of agricultural, water management and joint investment opportunities.
He pointed out to opening the Australian market for the Egyptian agricultural products which have high competitiveness at the international level including citrus, dates and textile.
Meanwhile, Yassa said that the meeting was fruitful and represented an opportunity to exchange expertise in addition to tackling a number of initiatives and future visions proposed between all parties.
She asserted the importance of trade cooperation in light of the growth of trade exchange between Egypt and Australia to 650 million dollars in 2023 compared to 270 million dollars in 2015.
The most prominent Egyptian exports to Australia include furniture, home tools, electric and electronic appliances, plastic materials, mineral products, eco-friendly cleaners, petrochemical industrial materials, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, she said, adding that Egypt imports meat from Australia.
The meeting also tackled joint cooperation in the sector of tourism.
