Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, alongside Alvaro Iranzo, Spain’s Ambassador to Egypt, signed two grant agreements totaling €800,000, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation. These grants are set to support two pivotal development projects in Egypt.
The first grant, worth €500,000, is dedicated to enhancing wastewater treatment and reuse in Egyptian sugar factories.
This project aims to improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating wastewater discharge, and promoting water sustainability through treated water reuse.
Additionally, it seeks to mitigate the environmental impact of sugar factories on the Nile River, safeguarding human health, agriculture, and fisheries.
The second grant, valued at €300,000, will support the second phase of the Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Creation project, in collaboration with Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.
This initiative focuses on fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth by increasing job opportunities, boosting income, and encouraging self-employment for young Egyptians.
It also emphasizes innovative entrepreneurship as a key driver for job creation and economic empowerment.
