CAIRO – 24 November 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Essmat, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to discuss strategies ensuring the energy sector's efficiency and sustainability.
 
The discussions focused on securing petroleum product supplies and maintaining a stable flow of gas to the national electricity grid, aiming to ensure consistent electricity delivery while minimizing energy losses.
 
The President examined plans to boost local petroleum production by integrating newly discovered wells into the production network, accelerating exploration in both onshore and offshore areas, and fostering partnerships with international and domestic investors.
 
He urged the government to enhance efforts to attract investments into the energy sector, leveraging its potential as a driver of national development.
 
Additionally, President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of modernizing the national gas network to guarantee a steady supply to electricity, industrial, and service sectors.
 
He also underscored the need to advance renewable energy projects to diversify energy sources, expand grid capacity, and adopt cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce losses.
 
The meeting also reviewed progress on major energy initiatives, including the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, a cornerstone of Egypt’s energy diversification strategy.
 
Discussions extended to the electricity interconnection project with Saudi Arabia, which aims to strengthen regional energy cooperation and improve grid stability.
 
President El-Sisi stressed the importance of timely and efficient execution of energy projects, highlighting their role in driving economic development.
 
Regarding the Egypt-Saudi Arabia interconnection, he called for meticulous project management, positioning it as a model for regional energy integration and a benchmark for similar future initiatives.
