Egyptian exports to Africa Union states rise to $7.4bln by end of 2023

CAIRO - 20 November 2024: Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) monitored the development of Egyptian exports to African Union countries, which achieved a significant increase during 2023.
 
The total value of Egyptian exports to African Union countries recorded about $7.4 billion in 2023, compared to $6.4 billion in 2022, with an increase of $1 billion and an increase of 15.6 percent, as the highest values ​​were concentrated in five countries, accounting for 65.5 percent of Egypt's total exports to African countries.
 
The list of countries receiving Egyptian exports goes as follows in order from highest to lowest:
 
Libya$1.8 billion, representing 24.9 percent of Egypt's total exports to African countries.
 
Sudan: $989 million, representing 13.4 percent of Egypt's total exports to African countries.
 
Algeria: $859 million, representing 11.6 percent of Egypt's total exports to African countries. 
 
Morocco:  $829 million, representing 11.2 percent of Egypt's total exports to African countries.
 
Kenya: $327 million, representing 4.4 percent of Egypt's total exports to African countries.
 
 
In contrast, the value of total imports from African Union countries amounted to $1.8 billion in 2023, compared to $2.3 billion in 2022, a decrease of 21.7 percent, as the highest values ​​were concentrated in five countries, representing 82.6% of Egypt's total imports from African countries.
 
 
The list of countries where Egypt imports from goes as follows in order from highest to lowest:
 
 
Democratic Republic of the Congo: $532 million, representing 29.3 percent of Egypt's total imports from African countries.
 
Sudan: $388 million, representing 21.4 percent of Egypt's total imports from African countries.
 
Kenya: $311 million, representing 17.1 percent of Egypt's total imports from African countries.
 
Zambia: $165 million, representing 9.1 percent of Egypt's total imports from African countries.
 
South Africa: $101 million, representing 5.6 percent of Egypt's total imports from African countries.
