CAIRO - 18 November 2024: The President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), CHANG Won Sam, will visit Egypt from November 20 to 22, 2024, to enhance bilateral cooperation and maximize the benefits of Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs.

This is his first official trip to Egypt since KOICA began partnering with the Egyptian government.

Following his participation in COP29 in Azerbaijan, CHANG will attend a high-profile event on November 19, where KOICA will sign an MOU with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to launch two key projects under the KOICA-UNFCCC Climate Future Partnership.

In Egypt, CHANG will hold meetings with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Rania A. Al-Mashat, and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchak to discuss expanding KOICA's activities to align with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He will also participate in a High-Level Stakeholder Briefing Ceremony on Egypt’s E-Procurement System, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the General Authority for Government Services (GAGS), showcasing efforts to digitalize governance.

KOICA’s commitment to Egypt reflects the nation’s strategic importance as Korea’s sole ODA priority partner in MENA, underscoring its potential as a regional hub for Korean companies. Established in 1998, KOICA’s Egypt Office focuses on technical education, digital governance, women’s empowerment, and socio-economic growth.
