Al-Wazir highlighted the significance of this milestone, emphasizing its alignment with Egypt’s vision to establish itself as a regional industrial hub, particularly in the automotive sector.
He noted that the initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to fostering local production and enhancing collaboration with domestic manufacturers.
The minister underscored the diversity of locally produced vehicles in the Egyptian market, referencing leading names like Nissan, General Motors, and Nasr Automobile Company, the latter achieving over 50% local content in its vehicles.
The Minister also commended ongoing efforts to boost the percentage of locally sourced components in the automotive industry year after year.
The EGA factory, Al-Wazir explained, caters to the Egyptian market’s varied demands by producing luxury vehicles under the Mercedes-Benz and Exeed brands.
He praised Egyptian workers for their expertise and dedication to delivering high-quality vehicles across multiple sectors.
Currently, the factory manufactures 1,200 Mercedes-Benz vehicles and 3,000 Exeed vehicles annually, contributing significantly to job creation for young Egyptians.
Production is set to expand next year under the National Automotive Industry Development Strategy, focusing on increasing local content, such as upholstery, glass, and seats, while maintaining premium quality.
