CAIRO - 13 November 2024: Egypt is set to receive eight new liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments this November to meet the growing demand for gas in power stations and industrial activities.
The shipments, which total between 160,000 and 180,000 cubic meters of LNG, will be directed to the "Höegh Gallon" regasification vessel for delivery into the country's national gas grid.
According to a government source speaking to news media outlets, Seven of these shipments will be received at the Sidi Kerir port on the Red Sea, while one shipment will arrive at the Aqaba port in Jordan for regasification before being redirected to Egypt.
These shipments are part of a larger contract for 20 LNG shipments arranged for the final quarter of the year.
To ensure supply stability during peak winter demand, additional LNG shipments may be received if needed.
Egypt has successfully arranged the purchase of 20 LNG cargoes with a premium of $1.70 to $1.90 over the standard price on the Dutch Title Transfer Facility (TTF).
The shipments come as part of Egypt's strategy to secure its energy needs, with daily domestic production of approximately 4.8 billion cubic feet of gas, supplemented by imports from Israel and global LNG purchases.
