Cairo – November 4, 2024: Amid social media posts circulating regarding a new increase in natural gas prices for households, the government has released a statement refuting these claims and has confirmed that no new price hikes will take effect this November.

The media center of the Cabinet clarified that the current prices for natural gas, which have been in place since September, will remain unchanged.

These prices were part of a package approved in September 2024 and were designed to align prices more closely with production costs, according to an official cabinet statement.

The government has emphasized that there will be no new increases applied to these rates at this time.

This alleged increases would have come on the heels of a recent increase in the prices of subsidized butane gas cylinders, which were raised by 50 percent for households and 33.3 percent for commercial institutions in response to rising global prices.

The timing is particularly relevant as the government prepares for the fourth review of its IMF loan program, during which subsidy reforms are a key focus.

The cabinet encouraged citizens to seek information from official sources and refrain from spreading rumors, particularly as the government works to implement reforms while ensuring that more households have access to natural gas.
