CAIRO - 28 October 2024: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued Monday a statement on Egyptian-Algerian relations, as the volume of Egyptian exports to Algeria increased to record $605 million during the first 8 months of 2024 compared to $556 million during the same period in 2023.
While the volume of Egyptian imports from Algeria amounted to $17 million during the first 8 months of 2024, compared to $8 million during the same period in 2023.
The statistics indicated an increase in the value of trade exchange between Egypt and Algeria to record $622 million during the first 8 months of 2024, compared to $563 million during the same period in 2023.
The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to Algeria during the first 8 months of 2024 are as follows:
Aromatic oils and cosmetics worth $84 million.
Plastics and their products worth $75 million.
Iron and its products worth $67 million.
Machinery, electrical and mechanical devices worth $34 million.
Copper and its products worth $33 million.
The most important commodity groups imported by Egypt from Algeria during the first 8 months of 2024:
Organic and inorganic chemical products worth $12 million.
Iron and steel worth $1.3 million.
Glass and its products worth $1 million.
Rubber and its products worth $1 million.
The value of Algerian investments in Egypt amounted to $13.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, while Egyptian investments in Algeria amounted to $4.5 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023.
The value of remittances of Egyptians working in Algeria amounted to $3.9 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, while the value of remittances of Algerians working in Egypt amounted to $939 thousand during the fiscal year 2022/2023.
Egypt's population was recorded at 106.9 million in October 2024, while Algeria's population was recorded at 47 million for the same period.
