CAIRO – 24 July 2017: The enhancement in the global growth expected in April’s outlook is still on track, where global output is projected to grow 3.5 percent in 2017 and 3.6 percent in 2018, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Monday.
In its Economic Outlook for July, the IMF published an infographic for the updates in the global economy, risks and priorities.
“Economic activity in both advanced economies and emerging and developing economies is forecast to accelerate in 2017 to 2 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively,” the IMF said, adding that the global growth is expected to stand unchanged at 3.5 percent from the April forecast.
As per the forecasts, advanced economies are projected to grow 1.9 percent in 2018, 0.1 basis points lower than April estimates. Emerging and developing economies’ growth would advance 4.8 percent, as forecasted in April.
Forecasts still point to a growth of 3.6 percent in 2018.
