CAIRO – 19 September 2024: Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, presided over a meeting where a proposed initiative for establishing a green data center, presented by an alliance, was thoroughly examined.

The project’s primary objective is to provide data storage and processing services internationally, as highlighted by the alliance representatives.

Key aspects of the green data center project and its objectives were deliberated during the session.

The alliance officials elaborated on potential locations for the project and its preliminary design, emphasizing its alignment with global trends such as the growing reliance on artificial intelligence services.

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the alliance to facilitate the project’s execution by meeting all essential requirements promptly, including allocating the necessary land.

Egypt, due to the government’s significant emphasis on exporting services, particularly in the field of data management, is positioned as a pivotal destination for such investments.

By 2026, the outsourcing exports sector is anticipated to reach $9 billion, underscoring Egypt’s allure for such ventures.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, expressed his readiness to evaluate the project in conjunction with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to devise optimal strategies for its realization, considering the technical prerequisites involved.
